Travel GND: SGU Buses & Bus Schedule

One of the most common non academic questions for incoming students is about travel and safety on the island. Traveling from campus to the grocery store or the beach can be done 3 ways, however as you’ll find out, the most common method being via SGU bus.

  1. SGU Bus – most common – FREE
  2. Local Taxi/Cab – used for hard to get places and off route locations
  3. Rental Vehicle – read my post on renting cars/scooters to find out more

Below is a sample of what an SGU bus schedule is like. Because I’m writing this post retrospectively, the schedule is for the most recent term (Spring 2018). Times will change term to term but this should give you an idea of how frequent certain routes run in comparison to each other. This is important when determining where to live off campus if that is a preference.

The map above is for 2009 however the routes themselves don’t change drastically year to year if at all.
